To start with there was that annoying ": <unknown error". That uudecode can't
deal with a file that has had trailing spaces truncated. (Not a problem
for newer files, as space is represented with a ` ).
I had too many files that I had to upload to UNIX to uudecode, then transmit
back to the Amiga with xmodem, THEN hunkpad. Even with checksums, uuencoded
files are not very secure, an entire line could be deleted and it would not
notice; so I added a transparant file size.
The new uudecode will complain about checksum and size mismatches only if
the file was encoded with them. >> No more false alarms <<
The FISH 53 uudecode is nice about not adding bytes to the files, but the
BSD 4.3 ones will add bytes if the file size is not and even multiple
of three.
--------This fixes everything--------
If anything goes wrong while transmitting a uuencoded file you may never
find out... until too late. This shar contains a version of uuencode
that adds, in a %100 transparant manner, a checksum to each line and
an overall file size. The uudecode will check these features, if present,
and complain if they are incorrect. Old uudecodes can deal with the new
files, and the new uudecode is tollerant of old files. "poof".
Know to be portable to BSD 4.3 UNIX and the Amiga.
